Securus Expands Texting Capabilities with Inclusion of Four Additional Carrier Networks

February 14, 2013

Securus, Inc. recently added four additional carrier networks to expand its cell phone carrier coverage. With this expansion, customers of Securus will now be able to track and locate Securus GPS devices by simply sending a text message from a registered cell phone. In addition to Metro PCS and Cricket, Securus’ network is supported by 50 carriers in total.

Furthermore, by including text alert capabilities, the company has effectively expanded its customer based to 15 million consumers.

Securus, Inc. is a specialist in developing personal and enterprise mobile safety and security products.

In a statement, Christopher D. Newton, president and CEO at Securus, Inc., said that, "The text-to-find function is a quick and easy way for cell phone users to keep tabs on family members, vehicles, pets or valuables. Customers can just text 'find' and the name of the locator to a five-digit number, and Securus will send the device's current location information to the registered cell phone via return text."

While most customers opt for tracking Securus GPS locators via satellite, and street-level or online hybrid map displays and or tracking through Securus’ free smartphone app, the company has effectively simplified the process for its customers by simply sending a text message and receiving a return text with the location of the device.

The new function can be used for all Securus GPS locator products, which also includes the company’s Portable Tracking & Safety Locator, eZoom, and Emergency Medical Response Device, eCare+Voice.

Securus is an expert in providing mobile safety and security products and services, and is used by college students, individuals with special needs, as well as senior citizens, pets, children and law enforcement agencies. The company is completely focused on the development of an advanced range of products and upgrades – service delivery methods that serve to enhance the customer experience.
